What happened to the Sussex Pad?
The Sussex Pad sat just outside Shoreham-by-Sea for centuries. But what happened to it after it closed for good in the 2010s?
A lot of people still turn up at this blog looking for information about the Sussex Pad.
What, they ask, happened to it? What are Lancing College’s plans for the hotel?
Well, at first we had no idea what their plans were in the long-term, but initially it was used as a temporary boarding house:
February 2014 marked the start of a two year, multi-million pound refurbishment project, which will see a significant upgrade and complete refresh to the accommodation in all of Lancing College’s Boarding Houses.
The project has, in part, been enabled through the re-acquisition of The Sussex Pad. “The Pad” will act as temporary accommodation for students, as each House is upgraded in turn.
However, once the refurbishment project was completed, the college found a new use for the building. The old Sussex Pad reopened as the Little Lancing nursery.
